SyFy’s miniseries The Phantom to air in June 2010

image Last year there was talk of The Phantom being adapted into a four-hour miniseries by Carnivale creator Daniel Knauf and Charles Knauf, and now it’s finally coming to SyFy.

The two-part miniseries will revolve around Kit Walker’s (the 21st member of the Walker family to take up the mantle of The Phantom) son who discovers his family lineage after the death of his adopted parents.

The lead role of The Phantom will go to Ryan Carnes (Desperate Housewives) and Sandrine Holt, Jean Marchand, Cas Anvar and Isabella Rossellini are also set to star.

Watch for it this June 2010, and if ratings and fan reaction are good, a TV series will follow afterwards.

Sony lets the rights to The Shadow slip, Sam Raimi runs with it to 20th Century Fox

Sam Raimi, after being kicked off Spider-Man 4 for Sony Pictures, decided to take another project he planned to do for Sony to another studio (after Sony let the rights expire, ha!).  That project will be the retelling of the popular 1930’s hero The Shadow.

The Shadow was a popular radio drama that eventually spawned several film serials, TV series, comic books and video games featuring a dark vigilante with psychic powers.

Raimi had teamed up with (and is still teamed with) Michael Uslan to do the movie, and recently Uslan told MTV News that Raimi’s version of The Shadow will be different from the 1994 movie starring Alec Baldwin.

"I think the one thing going in is we all see The Shadow as more of a force of nature than a specific person in a secret identity.  The Shadow may actually be many people."

SiriusXM rolling out newest radio since merger

Sirius XM has already merged its channels (which I WAS enjoying till they removed Cinemagic from Sirius radios!) and now they are rolling out the first interoperable satellite radio: the MiRGE. In addition to letting you switch between Sirius and XM signals, the radio will display three other channels as you view your current channel, and let you pause and rewind up to 60 minutes of live programming, among other standard features.

The radio will be available early this spring for $250.

Oh! They are also rolling out a new "Sirius Everything plus XM Everything" package to go along with the radio, which will run you $19.99 a month.

Sirius XM Merger Justice Dept approved!

+ = $

FINALLY!  The Justice Department approved Sirius Satellite Radio’s $5 billion buyout of rival XM Satellite Radio, saying the deal was unlikely to hurt competition or consumers.

Yeah!!! Movie soundtrack channel on XM here I come!!!

Thanks!

A special thanks to TJ Stewart (host of The13 Skulls podcast) for the recent mention of my site on his show, and the “thanks” he gave to me for helping get his show sounding better by recommending some software to him.

It’s appreciated and you’re welcome!
