Happy 4th of July United States!!

Memorial Day

Here’s saluting all those who gave their lives so I could have the freedom to sit here and blog and state my opinion on things.  Here’s also saluting those who had the courage to do something that I could not.

Most especially here is a fitting “Battlefield Cross” tribute to a friend of mine who gave his life trying to protect others… USMC Cpl. Heath McRae.  Recently in my hometown they had a monument erected to honor those who have fallen in battle.  Thank you Heath.

Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there who do (what they do) on a day to day basis for their kids.  You all deserve more than this day…  thank you for everything.

WalMart(dot)com take & maybe deliver…

I placed an order for something from Walmart(dot)com and once done with the order, found it somewhere else cheaper.  So I called them after a Google search gave me their number (cause it’s nowhere to be found on their site), and asked them to cancel the order.  They informed me that they can’t and that I have to wait till they deliver it to the store (I used site-to-store shipping) before I can get my money back.

Here’s the main dialog between us:
“So I am not actually charged for it till I pick it up in the store, correct?”

“No… we take the money immediately…”

“Wait… so I am out ## dollars for 2 weeks?”

“No sir… 3 weeks… the item won’t be delivered till May 6th.”

“You have to be kidding me…”

“No sir, I do apologize for the inconvenience…”

“I bet you do… so this is how your site-to-store program works, huh?  Well I won’t be doing it again and I am about to warn others.”

“Well is there anything else I can do for you?”

“Well give me my money back but you’re saying you can’t do that… so no, I don’t guess there is..”

“Thank you for calling Walmart(dot)com and have a nice day…”

So there you have it folks… site-to-store at it’s best… so I guess the lesson for the day is DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE PEOPLE AND USE THIS SHIPPING METHOD UNLESS YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY SURE YOU HAVE TO.

That’s okay though… WAMU was gracious enough to reject the charge from going through for them.  Thank you WAMU!!!!!!

Special Thanks…

And finally for this week, I’d like to extend a special thanks to Anthony Mendoza (Ant the Bat-hound) for the newly updated logo for the site.  His design work is always appreciated, and in my opinion, can’t be outdone.

Heath Ledger ruled “accidental overdose”

From CNN:

Heath Ledger died from an accidental overdose of prescription medications including painkillers, anti-anxiety drugs and sleeping pills, the New York City medical examiner’s office said Wednesday.

“Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam, and doxylamine,” the office said in a short statement.

“We have concluded that the manner of death is accident, resulting from the abuse of prescription medications.”

Hydrocodone and oxycodone are painkillers. Diazepam is an anti-anxiety drug commonly sold under the brand name Valium; alprazolam is also an anti-anxiety drug, sold under such names as Xanax. Temazepam, sold under such names as Restoril and Euhypnos, is a sleeping agent, as is doxylamine.

Ledger died January 22 at an apartment in Lower Manhattan. The Oscar-nominated Australian actor, best known for his role as a stoic, closeted cowboy in the 2005 film “Brokeback Mountain,” was 28.

Thank You!

A really big THANK YOU to Anthony Mendoza for the logo concept and design (and thanks for letting me alter it and add my Mii to it)!!

James Heath McRae 07/06/1985-07/24/2007

Heath rode my bus with me back in the good old school days and I used to talk to him ever so often.  He was a good kid, in my opinion, and he was always kept to himself and was very quiet (at least on the bus, when I knew him).  I used to drive by his old house and wonder what he was up to now-a-days and little did I know he was in Iraq serving our country.  I’ll regret not having spoken with him since school, but know that I’ll see him again…

Thank you Heath.
